City of Johannesburg: Environmental Science Internship Programme 2024 / 2025
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Group Environmental and Infrastructure Service Department (EISD) is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months.
Position Title: Climate Change Adaption Internship
Duration: 18 Months contract
Stipend: R9 531,54 pm
Primary Function: Facilitate and coordinate climate change initiatives within the city, including the development of policies, strategies and plans to ensure the climate change is implemented within the city.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration and record keeping;
- Provide support to the development of the city’s Climate Action Tracking tools.
- Compile a report summarizing the findings and recommendations from site visits and share it with relevant parties.
Requirements:
Must have a Degree in:
- Environmental Management,
- Environmental Sciences,
- Energy studies
- or related field.
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literacy including MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good Communication skills.
- Project management skills.
- Coordinating skills.
- Report writing.
- Basic knowledge of Climate change Science;
- Knowledge of the Climate Change Act.
- Collaborative/Teamwork, Values and Integrity, Attention to detail, and quality-focused;
- Customer and Service Delivery Management (Batho Pele) Ethics, Professionalism.
