Abbott Laboratories: Finance Internship Programme 2025

This position works out of our Roodepoort location in the Core diagnostics division. In this division our Core diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics around the globe. 

As the finance intern you will be instrumental in supporting and assisting the finance department.

Responsibilities:

What you will learn:

• Assist in Debtors management, tracking outstanding payments and reconciling accounts.
• Support the Billings team with invoice generation, verification, and processing.
• Gain insight into Supply Chain finance, ensuring proper financial controls and cost efficiency.
• Work closely with the Germany team to create Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up on payments.
• Monitor and ensure that invoices are processed and paid on time.
• Collaborate with the General Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Engage in cross-functional finance projects within a global pharmaceutical setting.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BCom) in: Finance / Accounting,

Skills and Competencies:

• Basic Computer Skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• NO experience is preferred- i.e the organization is seeking to hire newly graduated candidates.
• Must live in Johannesburg.
• Excellent time management skills, be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skill.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Energetic, highly motivated.
