Position Title: Internship – Support Climate Action under the Paris Agreement

Salary: R148 800 - R148 800 per annum

 

GIZ South Africa is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated intern to join the NDC Assist II: Article 6 Capacity Building project – a vital initiative supporting South Africa’s contribution to the Paris Agreement and the achievement of national climate goals.

What You Will Be Doing:

As an intern in this dynamic environment, you will provide both technical and administrative support, contributing to a range of activities, including:

  • Conducting research and preparing information on international climate policy, with a focus on Article 6 mechanisms
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of workshops, training, and capacity building initiatives
  • Assisting with project management tasks, such as minute-taking and meeting coordination
  • Creating presentations and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders

 

Requirements:

A recently completed Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in:

  • Environmental Sciences
  • Political Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Economic Sciences,
  • or related Field

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams)
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting
  • A proactive, reliable, and engaged approach to learning and contribution
  • Willingness to upskill and adapt to new tasks
