City of Johannesburg: EPWP Youth Opportunities 2025 / 2026

 

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering EPWP Opportunities to unemployed South African youth. The Programme will run for a period NOT exceeding eleven (11) months. 

 

Interns will be required to sign an internship agreement, in additional to an employment contract, committing themselves to full participation in the educational and workplace assignments in accordance with laid-down policies and procedures.

 


The following EPWP Internship Opportunities are open for applications:

 

EPWP: Eco-Guides

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R4500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Department of Economic Development

Requirements: Grade 12 / Matric certificate

Skills and Competencies: Computer Literacy – MS Applications. Communication skills. Batho Pele Principle Ethics

Duties: Lead environmental awareness campaigns in your community. Conduct and organise Spaza shops environmental awareness outreach and other educational activities;


EPWP: Environmental Health Assistants

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R4500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Economic Development

Requirements: Grade 12 / Matric or NQF level 4 qualification. Basic computer skills;

Skills and Competencies: Computer Literacy – MS Applications. Communication skills. Batho Pele Principle Ethics

Duties: Assist with business permit processing and public health compliance


EPWP: Office Admin Support

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R4500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Economic Development

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Public/Business Administration or any related tertiary qualification

Skills and Competencies: Computer Literacy – MS Applications. Communication skills. Batho Pele Principle Ethics

Duties: Serve as the first point of contact for spaza shop owners and internal users regarding queries and issues with the City's Spaza Reg


EPWP: Assistant Town Planners (Land Use Management)

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R6500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Economic Development

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Town Planning or any tertiary qualification related to the Regional Planning discipline

Skills and Competencies: Computer Literacy – MS Applications. Communication skills. Batho Pele Principle Ethics

Duties: Support spatial planning and development initiatives to ensure spaza shops compliance.


EPWP: Assistant Technical Coordinators

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R6500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Economic Development

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in any tertiary qualification related to the Civil Engineering Planning discipline

Duties: Support Services/technical planning and development initiatives to ensure spaza shops compliance


EPWP: Junior Developers / Business & Data Analysts

Ref No / Circular: STC 019/2025

Salary: R6500.00 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Economic Development

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Information Technology or any tertiary qualification related to the Computer Science discipline

Duties: Help digitize and manage the Spaza Reg platform.


EPWP: Administration: Data Capturing

Ref No / Circular: STC 018/2025

Salary: R7 000 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Sustainable Employment Facilitation

Requirements: Grade 12 / NQF level 4 or equivalent.  6 months of administration and data capturing experience. Having a working knowledge of EPWPRS will be an added advantage.

Knowledge: Knowledge of EPWP. Knowledge of EPWPRS. Knowledge of Local Government. Knowledge of Public Administration Legislation. Professionalism. HR and COJ values.

Duties: EPWP Data Capturing. General Office Administration.

EPWP: OC Cleaner

Ref No / Circular: STC 018/2025

Salary: R7 000 pm (all-inclusive, stipend)

Department: Sustainable Employment Facilitation

Requirements: Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous). No experience required.

Skills and Competencies: Able to manage time effectively. Punctual, reliable and trustworthy. Reading skills for following instructions. Awareness of health and safety procedures. Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work both alone and in a team. General housekeeping. Batho Pele Principle Ethics. Professionalism.

Duties: Perform a variety of cleaning, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and washing duties in and around the Opportunity Centre. Ensure that floors do not remain dirty for long and trash bins are emptied regularly. Prepare and serve beverages during meetings, training and workshops. Perform a variety of Opportunity Centre cleaning tasks. Beverage preparations and serving. General Office Support.
