NACOSA: Internships (Finance, Accounting or Auditing Graduates)
NACOSA (Networking HIV, AIDS Community of Southern Africa) is a leading non-profit organisation working in communities across South Africa. It focuses on building strong, resilient organisations and communities to respond effectively to HIV, AIDS, TB, gender-based violence (GBV), Human Rights, and broader public health and social challenges.
The Internship Programme aims to provide young graduates with valuable work experience within the NGO sector, supporting sustainable livelihoods and community development.
Responsibilities:
Include, but not limited to:
- Assist with reviewing financial data captured on the Kwantu system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance before processing payments.
- Review supporting documents such as invoices, timesheets, and registers to ensure they meet audit and funder requirements.
- Support the preparation and organisation of payment packs according to monthly disbursement schedules.
- Provide administrative support including data entry, document filing, updating internal trackers, and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist in ensuring all financial activities align with organisational and donor financial policies.
- Help maintain audit-ready documentation for internal and external reviews.
- Participate in training sessions and assist with ad hoc finance-related tasks as requested by the Finance Officer.
Requirements:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Finance,
- Accounting,
- Auditing,
- or a related field
- Be eligible to work in South Africa and between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Be currently unemployed and not engaged in any other internship or learnership.
- Have completed a post-secondary qualification relevant to the internship role.
- Be available for the full duration of the internship programme.
- Previous internship or work experience in a finance/administrative role is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting processes and procedures
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills required.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Understanding of financial policies, procedures, and compliance principles.
