NACOSA: Monitoring and Evaluation Internship Programme  2026

NACOSA (Networking HIV, AIDS Community of Southern Africa) is a leading non-profit organisation working in communities across South Africa. It focuses on building strong, resilient organisations and communities to respond effectively to HIV, AIDS, TB, gender-based violence (GBV), Human Rights, and broader public health and social challenges.

The Internship Programme aims to provide young graduates with valuable work experience within the NGO sector, supporting sustainable livelihoods and community development. 

Responsibilities:

Include, but not limited to:

• Accurately capture programme data into M&E systems, including Excel and digital platforms.
• Ensure timely collection and submission of data tools from implementing teams.
• Assist with digitizing and organizing hard-copy data forms for secure archiving.
• Support data cleaning processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Identify and flag data errors such as missing fields or incorrect demographics.
• Maintain a strict confidentiality of sensitive programme data.
• Participate in data verification activities, including basic site-level quality checks.
• Assist in compiling and formatting internal M&E reports and documentation.
• Engage in capacity-building sessions and shadow M&E staff for learning and development.
• Provide general administrative support, including filing, scanning, and template updates.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as needed to support programme objectives.

Requirements:

• A National Senior Certificate (Matric / Grade 12) is required. 
• Recently completed a Diploma or Degree in:

1. Social Sciences,
2. Public Health,
3. Development Studies,
4. Statistics,
5. or a related field.

• Be eligible to work in South Africa and between the ages of 18 and 35.
• Be currently unemployed and not engaged in any other internship or learnership.
• Have completed a post-secondary qualification relevant to the internship role.
• Be available for the full duration of the internship programme.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for onsite verifications

Skills and Competencies:

• Basic understanding of M&E concepts and data flow.
• Basic understanding of data analysis tools and languages (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI) 
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environments 
• Strong attention to detail with a willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in English and one other South African language (African language advantageous)
