Stats SA: Employment Opportunities - Service Agents for Census 2022

Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) is on a nationwide recruitment drive to appoint prospective candidates for fieldwork that includes collecting data from respondents and other activities involved in the pre-enumeration, enumeration and post-enumeration phases.

About 165 000 officials will be recruited across the country to update and identify new dwellings, conduct publicity and to collect data.  Recruitment will (ONLY) be through our online database to ensure that people are recruited from their areas of residence.

Minimum Requirements:

The applicant must:

• Have a minimum of a Senior Certificate (Matric or equivalent).
• Be proficient in any of the 11 official languages.
• Be willing to work over weekends and outside of normal office hours.
• Be an RSA citizen with no criminal record.

The following Positions / Employement opportunities are available:

Fieldwork/Data Collection: Going door-to-door to collect information from households

Required skills / competencies:

• Good communication skills
• Driver’s license will be an added advantage
• Computer Literacy
• Ability to operate a mobile device

Data capturing: Capturing of information

Required skills / competencies:

• Computer literacy
• Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
• 95% accuracy

Data processing: Sorting, coding and quality checking of forms or any documents

Required skills / competencies: Computer literacy

Clerical and administrative: General administrative and non-administrative duties

Required skills / competencies

• Relevant administrative skills
• Computer literacy

Supervisory: Supervision of any of the above categories where necessary

Required skills / competencies

• Supervisory experience
• Driver’s license (if applicable)
• Ability to operate a mobile device

NB: Applicants who previously registered on the new HR contract database in 2019 & 2020 need to update their information accordingly.
