Necsa’s Radiation Protection Technician (RPT) Learnership Programme offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in radiation protection, working alongside industry experts and contributing to a safer future. There will be both theoretical and On-the-job Training. Learners will be awarded the opportunity to work in the Necsa Group facilities to receive the necessary On-the-Job exposure to equip them for employment.

After completion of the programme, successful learners will be able to:

• Communicate about the hazards of radiation and contamination in the workplace and basic radiation protection.
• Communicate about workplace radiation and contamination monitoring.
• Select radiation and contamination monitoring equipment that suits the

2. Purpose, and
3. Location of specific measurements.

• Monitor radiation and contamination according to specified requirements.
• Stick to radiation protection measures specified in given procedures.
• Manage your own relations in the workplace for optimal productivity.

Radiation Protection Opportunities:

After completing the course, successful candidates will be able to work as Radiation Protection Officers at various industries such as mining; medical institutions; nuclear installations (such as Necsa and Koeberg power station); construction etc.

Requirements:

• Must have Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Sciences)
• Only South African citizens will be considered
• Between the ages of 18 and 35 years
